If you are experiencing problems
with your computer, our experts can solve your problems. Our technicians
will collect your computer from your home or business, carry out a
full investigation and diagnostic check in our workshop and suggest a
solution which we can either carry out or return your computer to you
unchanged. You will be charged a fixed fee for this service protecting
you from high hourly charges. We offer a "no solution no fee"
guarantee, so in the unlikely event we cannot find a solution to your
problems, we will return your computer to you and you will owe
nothing. When we have diagnosed the problem, if we can repair the
fault at the time, we will do so or we will contact you with the
solution and then it is up to you whether you have the computer
repaired by us or returned to you. Most of
the problems we see are software related and can be simply fixed at the
time of the service without any
additional fees, replacement parts or software but if the fault requires
replacement
parts or software to be installed we can supply these, or they can be
supplied by the customer (delivered to us), or we can return the
computer with a detailed report of the fault for no extra charge.
Extra labour charges may apply depending on the complexity of the solution. As an example if we determine your hard drive has failed, and you would like it replaced then extra labour charges would apply as well as the cost of the parts. The reason for this is that in order to replace the hard drive it will be necessary to reinstall Windows. You will always be informed of any further charges before the work is carried out, and then it is up to you if you wish to proceed or not. Many faults can be a real puzzle to solve but we have at our disposal some excellent low level diagnostic software tools which can be loaded into memory before the operating system boots, thus bypassing the operating system. We can then run "Burn-in" tests, a series of tests designed to fully test the computers hardware components, from CPU and memory through to hard drives, ports and graphics whilst outside of the Windows environment. In the case of intermittent faults these tests can be set to loop continuously, soak testing the computers hardware until the fault manifests itself. We also utilise Windows stress testing software, which was developed to place load on all of the various components whilst in the Windows environment, which has the effect of forcing intermittent faults to appear. We can then run either single tests, or suits of tests over a particular time period, which again is useful for diagnosing intermittent faults. After we repair a computer, depending on the type of repair, we normally carry out a soak test, either at low level, or in Windows to fully test our repairs. This ensures that we deliver a reliable and fully repaired computer back to the customer. These processes can often take hours to complete, depending on memory and disk size, and we keep the fixed price costs down by running other tasks in parallel. Relatively straightforward faults can normally be solved within 24 hours, but occasionally we may require the computer for longer, especially in the case of intermittent faults or awaiting parts. We cannot offer a fixed price for carrying out diagnostic services in you home or business, however we are happy to carry out this service at your premises but our standard hourly rates will apply. Simple faults can often be diagnosed fairly quickly, but more complicated intermittent faults can take several hours to properly diagnose. What is included in this service:-
